Export into Blender, retexture, and export, then open in GE 5.5.3.

there is TONS more to do than just the blender work. in fact thats the last thing i'd do if at all. most mods don't NEED to be re textured at all.
while i haven't actually had a 100% successful conversion that i've done start to finish myself i've managed to learn from all the complicated tut's out there most of what to do. there are lines in the modDesc that need re named,, for example machine type is no longer used, replaced with category. the modDesc number needs to be changed to 21 or 22. there are things in the xml that need done as well. lines need re named. certain things will need re referenced, like sounds and particle animations.
a big thing is the shaders. they all need replaced with current shaders. there is a pack on fsuk that is excellent. unfortunately the only thing missing is a guide as to some of them that replace old ones. a lot are the same names but for example, emissivebillboard shader is replaced with emissiveLightsShader. i still haven't found a cheat sheet that tells about those kinds.
as for the blender work, it IS hard. don't let anyone fool you. i recently did manage to learn a bit about it, but it took hundreds of tries on my own and over a dozen times of installing blender, giving up and uninstalling it then finally finding the right person with the patience and time to walk me through some things. and now i've managed to teach a friend what i learned.
when helping or giving advice i try to come from the angle of the person i'm helping knows NOTHING about what i'm talking about. that way i cover every step. that's how i learn things and would like to be helped. i tend to blow off advice or help that just assumes i know the basics of what i'm doing.

This isn't relevant to this topic at all, he's talking about reverse converting, not forward, you have to use blender as a new .i3d will not old in an old GE.
