Ok, excuse these because they're not fancy edits, but I thought I'd take a tour of my map (bored at work) and show off some of the features that I made for it. This is a 16x map that I used Google overlays to map out roads and fields. It's based on an area in Evangeline Parish, Louisiana just northeast of Ville Platte. There are 4 communities, Ville Platte, Tate Cove, Grand Prarie, and Faubourg. My house is located in this map as are many of the fields I see daily.. I run six farms and my vehicles list on my save is almost 200 items long (last check was somewhere like 192) lol. Anyway, on to the pics. Coming into Ville Platte. There are watertowers in each community and each is uniquely colored. They have words on them but they are too high to read lol. Different utility circuits heading out of the powerplant in town. A detailed power grid was built for this map. These were modeled after Cleco's poles. That's the investor owned utility in our area. The power plant in Ville Platte. There are two of them on this map. The sub is designed to convert the 138 kv transmission voltage down to 34.5 kv. The 34.5kv is then converted down to 13.2kv in smaller substations around the map. As in true fashion, not all powerpoles are 90 degrees to the ground (especially in Louisiana lol) Some poles are leaning over. Some are older, some are newer, and some have obviously been repaired. Another view of downtown. There are three large radio towers on this map, each one unique and can be seen from great distance. DOT signage that I designed for strangers to this huge map. This is the radio antenna out near the industrial park. Wasn't easy to get the whole thing in frame lol. Used to be able to teleport to the observation deck. Unfortunately the teleport fields were causing errors so I deleted them. Old rusted watertower near industrial park. Also a 138k h-frame pole that was recently replaced. The funny thing is, at this moment, the real watertower that sits here in real life is being repainted. A step down substation. Converting 34.5kv to 13.2kv. No animals on this map, but I still put fences for asthetics and continuity with real life. As is fitting with a Louisiana themed map, the roads are substandard. There are many old derilict barns still sitting in fields, in trees. Once made a joke with a friend that came from Tennessee to visit when he said we just don't tear down anything. I said nope, we wait for the hurricanes to tear them down for us. Authentic Louisiana Hwy signs. This is the actual hwy I live down. At least some of our rough roads are getting fixed. Fresh pavement
