A lot has been going on around my map. Rice Harvest in in full swing here.
Managed to find a farm out cutting and caught a ride on an 8400 running a cart. Here we caught up with the combine.
Ended up switching to the combine to visit with a pal for a little while before I got some outdoor pics.
Caught a ride back to the trucks with the 8400 driver to get some outside pics. Here he's unloading a full load from his Rayne Grain Cart.
Caught this pic of the 9670 STS unloading into the Demco 850 attached to the 8315R.
Another full load in the Rayne Grain.
This cart is mainly around just to make sure the combine never has to stop. Sometimes with the long distance between the combine and trucks, not to mention having to nearly stop to cross levees, it makes it difficult for just one tractor and cart to keep up.
Another load going into the Demco.
After a while, I decided to drive on to the north end of the area, and see if I could find some milo being cut. I found a 1680 out cutting some late milo.
The next day, I decided to see what other farms were working. Found this 340 out disking. This farmer had a lot of fields that he was not able to plant soybeans in, which added in with a terrible wheat crop. The constant rain in spring was to blame. He's now trying to clean up the fields he didn't get to plant.
Found this guy out unloading some milo that he was cutting. He only got to plant two fields of milo before rain shut him down this spring. Didn't get to get a pic of the 9610 combine this guy was keeping up with.
The magnum from yesterday was now off carting duties as the farmer had finished milo harvest and is now waiting for soybeans to ripen. He had this guy out disking some of this past year's wheat ground.
Finally I caught up to one of the largest rice farmers in this area. He was running a 9230 combine and a JD 9670 STS he got off of a retired farmer. He had two 290 Magnums, one running a Demco 850 and Brent grain cart.
This was at the end of the day when they wrapped up the field.
