I'd like to make a prayer for my grandpa. He is in the hospital for the third time recently now with an irregular heart beat, and kidney failures. When I was out helping my uncle on the farm on Wednesday, I was in the 8230 with the soil finisher. He was in the field across the road disking corn stalks under on a field that was going to be beans so when it was time to plant beans the stalks wouldnt plug the soil finisher. That morning while the 83 was filling with diesel, and we were replacing bearings on the baskets, he showed up. Normally talking to him is my favorite thing to do, but that morning, he said very little. We knew something was up, but didnt know what. My grandma showed up around noon to go to Cedar Rapids to go shopping since she broke her glasses. He was supposed to come back and finish disking that field later, but never returned to the field. He did however come back to the farm when my uncle was loading more seed pallets in the back of the F250. My uncle said that he wanted to go back out to the field, but he could tell my grandpa was sluggish and off. So my grandma brought my grandpa home, and his F150 stayed at the farm. When they got home, he got worse. Grandma called the doctors and they told her to bring him into the ER. He was in there for Wed, Thurs, Fri, and Sat. He was improving over those days. He had gained over 10 lbs in fluids over the last week that wernt exiting his body. They drained alot of that liquid, and with how much he has improved over those days, thought he would be able to go home Monday. Then sunday morning, we got a call saying he has gotten drastically worse and had to be transferred to a much more serious hospital. His kidneys have gotten worse, to the point where they are hardly working at all. My mom went down and stayed with him all day. As she was leaving, she called me and said he was very delusional and weak.
I havent gotten the time to visit him at all, and its killing me. Every time we finished field work, it was just too late and we were too dirty to go to a hospital. And today, something came up where I couldnt go see him.
Please pray for him as I believe in God and the power of praying. He is my only grandpa, and the only grandpa I ever got to know. He and I are
very close as I used to stay at their house alot, and he has taught me everything I know about farming. It has went from him letting me ride with him, to him teaching me to drive my very first tractor, to letting me disk with it all by myself, to me now driving our biggest tractor myself doing every task myself. He brings lunch out to me in the 83 every time im out there that my grandma has prepared with love.
And to make it even worse, his beloved 4850 that is his favorite tractor blew that same day and is still sitting in the same spot to this very day.
I hope you will pray for him, as this took me along time to write. Some people might say this is weird, but I dont care. I
love my grandpa and would do anything to help/protect him. He has made a huge impact on my life and gave me my passion for agriculture and farming. In honor of him, I am going to go to college for an Ag career and hopefully take over the family farm from my uncle that my great great grandpa started from the ground up.
I will update you on his condition as the situation goes on.
