how long does it take to go from idea to working mod in game ? ( I know it would depend on the amount of free work time a person has to put into it , but like for me , being disabled with nothing else to do ..... say working about 8 - 10 hours a day on it )

It really depends on the the type of mod, how much effort you are willing to put into it, etc.

If you are just starting out and doing a basic mod like say a simple trailer to haul seed I would say 70 hours plus. If you have to watch videos on how to model and texture you are looking at 100- 120 hours. I may have a gross overage on the time, but my last model (dynamic fillvolume for a trailer) I did took 15 hours start to finish and I am very new to modeling. If you know how to write your scripts, create the needed store images, and other needed things then you have 1/3 the battle won. I am not trying to be negative, but feel people should know before hand what kind of a haul they are in for. I have watched over 50 hours of how to videos (thank you Youtube) to get the concept of modeling. My channel on Youtube (william schweer) has a lot of good links to videos that I have found help full and positive. Not trying to advertise my channel just trying to help get information to the masses, please remove if this is not ok.

It depends on how good you are with the program, and what a simple trailer is. If you use a default trailer's script, and make a simple, low-poly, low detail model, you probably could finish in a day. It all depends on the project.

Depends on how complex it is too. A bale trailer is much more easier to do than a complex system such as a baler.

I may be really over doing it on mine and it will probably end up being a real disaster . My 1st mod ever , I'm working on a 2000 Peterbilt 379 EHXD Tandem that I converted to a tri-axle with a 20 ft Sleeper . I kind of went overboard on the sleeper as the inside of it probably wont be able to be seen , ( refrigerator , stove , sink , wood cupboards with glass doors , microwave and Mr.Coffee , storage , 65 inch flat screen , stereo and game systems with component stereo speakers , and double bunks . The frame has a really nicely detailed air ride suspension with front air bags and spring mounts that I had to rework myself to match the rears . Frame also has air brake chambers on all wheels and steering linkage on the front . Also all duct work on the engine for exhaust and air intake and radiator and hoses have all been connected . Cab interior includes : above windshield storage , Peterbilt luxury dashboard and seats , and President Jackson CB Radio . Lots of detail so probably waaaay more than I should be doing for a 1st attempt . But learning is what it's all about right ? Being disabled I have a lot of spare time and have basically 2 weeks worth of 10 - 12 hour days into this already , and have only the frame with engine and suspension ,steering , and sleeper done so far .

Are you converting it from a trucking game, like 18 WOS or ETS2? generally, converting from 18 WOs isn't too hard, if you do it right. So far it sounds like you are doing good!

Probably not the right way to go but nothing from a game - just assorted parts from 3d warehouse that I collected and had to resize and match together and rework and improvise some stuff to make everything work together

sorry - it's been a while - I've had some serious stuff I had to deal with ( 2 deaths from a house fire and funerals , helping my sister deal with losing her 12 year old daughter ... and more ) but the sizes I was asking about is like if you make something a certain size in Sketchup - does it stay that size thru Blender and whatever else it has to go thru before becoming a mod and with that how do you know how big it will be in game ?
